How these are calculated

Everything is on a dry-matter basis. Wet weights depend on how wet your feedstock happens to be, so they cannot be compared between farms. The two moisture fields are not decoration — they are most of the answer.

Bioconversion = dry larvae harvested ÷ dry feedmix offered. FCR (dry) = dry feedmix offered ÷ dry larval biomass gain. They are reciprocals of each other, to within the 0.03% contributed by the starting neonates, which we include for rigour but which never changes a result.

FCR is reported on feed offered, not feed consumed. On a farm you cannot separate uneaten substrate from faeces, so feedmix minus frass is dry matter that disappeared, not dry matter that was ingested. We report that quantity as the Efficiency of Conversion of Digested feed (ECD) and never call it an FCR.

The Waste Reduction Index (WRI) is substrate reduction divided by rearing days. It is only shown when you supply a real rearing duration — computing it from a default would destroy the only thing it is useful for, which is comparing batches.

The Efficiency of Conversion of Ingested feed (ECI) is not shown. Ingested dry matter cannot be measured on a farm, and every practical substitute makes it numerically identical to the bioconversion rate above.

Average larva weight is always the fresh weight, even when you enter the batch total on the dried basis. Mixing the two bases is the single most common way to get a survival figure that is wrong by a factor of two and a half.
